STEVE WILKIN
// keyboards/vocals
Steve Wilkin started learning to play both piano and organ at the age of six and has now been performing with bands, shows or as a solo musician/composer for several decades.
Starting out on the Birmingham club scene, he was soon ‘spotted’ and invited to join the resident band at the prestigious Staffordshire venue Trentham Garden, where he continually worked alongside many well-known TV stars and professional cabaret acts, at one time even performing before a member of the Royal Family.
Following a further few years of a similar contract with the entertainment team at Drayton Manor Park, he then moved on to concentrate on corporate entertainment and could be found playing the grand piano in the halls of the National Exhibition Centre as well as playing at function or stadium events. By now, Steve was also much in demand for studio session work which involved combining his musical skills with the latest hi-tech keyboards. More recently, he has toured the UK with a professional function band and also been involved in composing and performing music for theatre productions.
Having been heavily influenced by the music of the late John Barry, Steve was delighted to have the opportunity of joining other calibre musicians for the ‘Billy Meets Cliff’ show where much of this style can be used. From the show’s point of view, Steve’s musicianship has proved invaluable and throughout each and every performance, his personal skills show to the utmost.
